Department of social and humanitarian disciplines is a subdivision of the social and psychological faculty of National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine.

The department is headed by Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Colonel of civil protection service Elena Ryabinina.

The activity of the department is aimed at the formation of the spiritual culture of cadets, students, trainees and facilitate the emergence of their world, the imparting of knowledge across the entire spectrum of humanitarian fields of knowledge. These are: philosophy, history, cultural discipline, sociology, political science, the basics of demography, democracy, public relations theory and practice of education.

The specifics of educational work being done by the department, is the impact on the personal development of those we teach. This is precisely the meaning of the humanities.
