Scientific and teaching activity

Research topics are carried out at the Department in the following areas:

• linguistics in the context of cross-cultural communication;
• lexical-semantic system of Ukrainian language;
• Ukrainian industry terminology based on the material of fire and emergency terminology etc.

Over the past years, research and teaching staff of the department have published over 20 scientific articles and taken part in more than 10 conferences and workshops.

In 2011, as a result of research comparative analysis of terms of fire-technical specialties in Ukrainian, English, German and French was published the Dictionary of Fire and Rescue Terminology for employee of fire and rescue specialties (20,000 words and phrases).

The department works successfully with scientific society of cadets and students.

The department staff is constantly improving teaching skills, associate professors and senior lecturers are active participants in methodological and scientific seminars of higher education institutions in Kharkiv and Ukraine.
